The Crystal Community is located in the west, south-central part of the Chuska Mountains at an elevation of 6,900 feet above sea level. The chapter area straddles the Arizona and New Mexico boundary. The community is situated approximately five miles east of the state line. The area is in a forest region part of the Chuskas.
The Crystal Chapter conducts meetings monthly to keep residents informed; residents have a forum to express their opinions to their Navajo Nation Council Delegate or to decide on matters concerning their chapter.

Community residents work in Navajo, New Mexico and with Government programs in Fort Defiance and Window Rock. Most residents raise sheep and cattle. The fertile hill country provides good grazing areas for livestock. The mountain
are, including New Mexico State Route 134 over Narbona Pass
(former Washington Pass), has great scenic and recreational
qualities. Students at the Dine College advocated in changing the name of Washington Pass to Narbona Pass to pay
tribute to an early famous Navajo leader. Several mountain lakes throughout the Chuskas offer good trout fishing.
Narbona Pass is the site for one of the most popular cross-country running in the southwestern region. The annual race has become very competitive.
